Cancel, undo cancellation, and understand deletion

Cancellation, undoing a cancellation, and deletion are three different actions. Cancellation sets when a subscription should end. Undoing it lets a still-running subscription continue. Deletion removes the subscription when its financial records and the rules allow it.

Cancellation, undoing a cancellation, and deletion are three different actions. Cancellation sets when a subscription should end. Undoing it lets a still-running subscription continue. Deletion removes the subscription when its financial records and the rules allow it.

Cancel on a date

Open the subscription actions, choose cancellation, and review the suggested end date. Normally the subscription continues until the end of its period. Periods already invoiced or paid, and their payments, are protected, so cancellation alone does not erase what the customer paid for. Future periods that should no longer be billed may be removed.

Cancellation is not a refund. Returning money is a separate payment or credit process.

Example of the three actions

A customer has a monthly period ending on 30 September. A normal cancellation in September normally sets the end date at the end of that period, so the customer keeps the service already paid for. If the customer changes their mind before that date, the cancellation can be undone and future periods can be rebuilt. If the subscription has ended, the operation is instead a restart or a new purchase under the rules for that payment type.

Deletion is not a shortcut for removing the next invoice. If an invoice, payment, or other financial record must be retained, the subscription cannot be deleted like a draft. Open the invoice and check its status before deciding whether a financial correction is needed.

Undo or delete

While the end date has not passed, a cancellation can normally be undone. The end date is cleared and upcoming periods are rebuilt. Once the subscription has ended, restarting depends on the payment type and current status; in some cases a new subscription is required.

Deletion is stricter. A subscription cannot be deleted if that would remove or hide a required invoice, payment, or other financial history. Check invoices and upcoming transactions before deleting.

Questions

Does it end immediately? Not necessarily. The date accounts for periods already invoiced or paid.

Why cannot I delete it? Financial records may need to be retained.

Does the customer receive a refund automatically? No. Cancellation and refund are separate actions.

Why is an upcoming period still present? It may be protected by an invoice, payment, or payment operation in progress. Check the period and status on the subscription.

What happens to existing invoices? They remain as financial history. Cancellation does not automatically change the document.
