Notice periods on subscriptions
You can now give a subscription a notice period, for example "current month + 1 month". When a customer cancels, the subscription only ends once the notice period has run out, and the customer sees the end date before they confirm.

You can now give a subscription a notice period, for example “current month + 1 month”. When a customer cancels, the subscription only ends once the notice period has run out, and the customer sees the end date before they confirm.
Under Notice period on the subscription’s page, you choose how the notice period runs:
- Current billing period + N periods.
- Current month + N months. Cancelled on 10 October with 1 month, the last day is 30 November.
- N months’ notice to the end of a billing period.
- A fixed number of days or months from the cancellation day.
It applies to new customer subscriptions, and it follows the customer subscription from the day it is created. If you change the notice period later, existing customer subscriptions keep the one they were created with.
The customer sees the notice period in checkout, on the confirmation page and in the confirmation email, and the customer portal shows the end date when they cancel. If it ends mid-period, the last period is charged pro rata.
The customer now gets a confirmation email with the end date when a subscription is cancelled, and again if you change the date. You can switch it off under Settings → Customer emails. Through the API you can see the end date before you cancel with GET /v1/subscriptions/{uuid}/cancel-preview.
When you cancel a subscription yourself, you can still end it earlier, for example at the end of the period, on a specific date or today.
A notice period is not a minimum term, and you are responsible for making sure your terms are lawful for private customers.
