If you use fixed renewal, you can now choose that a subscription starting in the middle of a period is first billed at the next renewal. Choose Charge it with the next renewal under First partial period in the renewal settings.

A monthly subscription that starts on October 20 is then billed on November 1 for both October 20-31 and November. Your customer receives one invoice with a line for each period and one invoice fee, and with card payment there is one charge instead of two a few days apart.

This applies to new subscriptions you create yourself or through the API, and to purchases through checkout when the next renewal is invoiced or charged automatically. In checkout the customer pays nothing for the partial period at purchase, and with card payment the card is saved. Checkout and the confirmation show when the first payment or invoice comes and which period it covers. A bundle’s one-off amounts, such as a setup fee, are billed as before.

It does not apply to imported subscriptions, usage-based plans, installments or invoicing on the last day of the period. The choice is saved on the subscription when it is created, so changing the setting later does not move existing subscriptions.
