EU consumer sales: service type, OSS start date and a threshold overview

If you sell to consumers in other EU countries, you can now give Alunta more details about your sales and keep track of how close you are to the EU threshold of EUR 10,000. The settings are optional. Your saved accounting settings and the way Alunta books today stay the same until you choose something yourself.

Service type: Under Settings → Invoicing → Sales VAT basis you can state whether you sell Electronic services or General services. The choice decides the VAT on sales to consumers abroad. If you choose General services, Danish VAT is charged on sales to consumers both inside and outside the EU, also when OSS is enabled. If a subscription plan has a different service type, you can choose it in the plan’s accounting mapping. While the field is Not established, everything works as before. Only choose a service type once you have confirmed that it applies.

OSS applies from: If you have enabled OSS under EU consumer sales and OSS on the same page, you can now enter the date your business began applying OSS. Alunta uses the customer country’s VAT from that date, unless the service type is General services. If you leave the field blank, OSS applies as before.

Separate product for EU consumer sales: In the accounting mapping for a subscription plan or a fee, you can choose EU consumer sales with domestic VAT under Posting and link a separate product in your accounting system to those sales. If you choose none, the default product is used as before.

Threshold overview: Under EU consumer sales and OSS, owners and administrators can see the known relevant sales excluding VAT for the current and preceding calendar year and download the invoice basis as CSV. If several Alunta accounts share the same CVR number, the accounts you have access to are included. The overview counts sales of electronic services where Alunta has stored the details. Sales with missing details appear as lines needing review. Sales in other accounts and outside Alunta are not included, so add those yourself.

Dashboard notice: When the recorded sales approach or exceed the threshold, owners and administrators get a notice under Needs attention with a link to the overview. You can hide the notice, and it does not appear once OSS is enabled, unless your OSS applies from date is still in the future.

Alunta does not change any VAT rates on its own, and the overview is not a complete VAT calculation. Ask your accountant or adviser if you are unsure which rules apply to your sales.
