Product update from Alunta
More accurate MRR and Pending MRR
We have tightened up how MRR and Pending MRR are calculated, so the numbers match what is actually happening in your business - and align with how ChartMogul, Stripe and other established analytics tools compute it.
We have tightened up how MRR and Pending MRR are calculated, so the numbers match what is actually happening in your business - and align with how ChartMogul, Stripe and other established analytics tools compute it.
What has changed?
MRR now shows only the monthly recurring revenue that is actually being invoiced right now. Subscriptions in trial or on pause no longer count - they have moved to Pending MRR.
Pending MRR now covers everything that is committed but not yet invoicing:
- Subscriptions in trial
- Paused subscriptions
- Subscriptions with a future start date
As soon as a trial converts, a pause ends, or a future start date is reached, the amount automatically moves from Pending MRR to MRR.
What you’ll likely see
For many teams MRR will drop a bit and Pending MRR will rise correspondingly - the total is the same. This is not a decline in your business; it’s just a more honest picture.
ARR is derived from MRR and becomes correspondingly more accurate.
Historical data is preserved
Existing MRR history is not rewritten retroactively. On your MRR chart you’ll see a visible step around today - that’s where the new calculation took effect. The Pending MRR chart starts accumulating data from today onwards.
Impact on analytics
The monthly breakdown now shows only real new business and real churn:
- A trial that ends without converting no longer counts as churn
- A trial that converts to paying is registered as new business on the conversion date
