Discount codes for new subscriptions

You can now create discount codes and share them with new customers. The customer enters the code when they sign up for a subscription on your self-service page, and the discount applies to the first subscription period - after that they pay the normal price.

A code can give a percentage discount or a fixed amount, and you can set a maximum number of uses, an expiry date and which subscriptions the code applies to. Each customer can use the same code once. The overview shows how many times a code has been used, which customers used it and when, and you can deactivate a code without losing the history.

The discount code appears as its own line in the customer’s payment summary and on the invoice, so both you and the customer can see what the discount covered. An internal note on the code - for example who you gave it to - is only visible to your team.

Enable Discount codes under Apps and integrations. It requires the Self-service module, because codes are redeemed on your self-service page. A code cannot be combined with an introductory offer on the same subscription, or with an offer that already has its own price.

The order confirmation for trials has also been corrected: it promised the plan’s full price even when the first charge after the trial is lower - because of an introductory offer, a discount code, or a shorter first period on a plan with a fixed renewal date. It now shows the amount the customer is actually charged that day.
