Watch our latest product update here. Emil jumps from one topic to another to give Alunta a thorough update.

Alunta has had one clear focus from the start: making subscription management simple for businesses that sell subscriptions, particularly in the SaaS and web agency worlds. But “simple” does not mean limited. It means clear, flexible and easy to work with every day.

Today, we are taking a big step forward.

Online payments are now live in Alunta through our new OnPay integration. You can now bring subscriptions and payment cards together in one system without building complex payment flows or paying for features you do not really need.

In this post, I will explain how it works in practice, which problems it solves and why Alunta is now a genuine, more affordable alternative to Stripe Billing.

A very ordinary, and realistic, use case

In Emil’s latest product video (above), he starts with a classic example: a web agency that offers WordPress maintenance.

Every month, you check the customer’s website. WordPress and plugins are updated, security is maintained and SEO is working. It is an ongoing service, which makes it an obvious fit for a subscription.

This is exactly the kind of business Alunta is built for.

Create an account, confirm your email and name your business. Then you will be guided through a short setup. One of the first questions is a key one: how do you want to receive payment for your subscriptions?

Choose card payments, and you can connect Alunta directly to OnPay. It only takes a few clicks.

If you want to connect to an accounting system such as e-conomic, you can do so right away. If not, Alunta also works well on its own, and you can always export data as a CSV file.

Payment setup without the hassle

Once Alunta and OnPay are connected, you are ready to create your first subscription.

In the example, a “WordPress maintenance” subscription costs DKK 2,000 per month. You can also offer an annual payment option, such as DKK 10,000 per year. Both options are part of the same subscription.

Alunta then generates a self-service link that your customers can use to sign up.

The link can be:

  • added to your website
  • sent directly in an email
  • integrated into your own system through the API

The customer opens the link, chooses a payment interval, enters their details and adds a payment card. Then it runs automatically.

OnPay also has a test mode, so you can try the whole flow before accepting real payments. When a customer completes a purchase, they receive an email with the invoice attached, and you are notified straight away.

Subscriptions that can change over time

Reality is rarely static. Prices are adjusted. Customers get discounts. Agreements change.

That is built into Alunta. You can:

  • make permanent price changes that take effect on a future date
  • give temporary discounts for a defined period
  • change the payment interval from monthly to annual, or the other way around
  • refund periods already charged, which automatically creates a credit note

Everything is clearly marked. You can see what is active now, what is scheduled and when changes take effect. Payments are collected correctly and automatically from the customer’s card, with no manual adjustments.

A customer portal that saves time

Each customer gets access to a simple customer portal.

They log in by email, without a password, and can:

  • see their subscriptions
  • update their payment card
  • find invoices and payment history

This significantly reduces support requests and gives customers control over their own subscriptions.

An overview without spreadsheets

In Alunta’s overview, you can look ahead and see what will happen on a given date:

  • renewals
  • scheduled price changes
  • upcoming charges

These are not theoretical forecasts, but a practical way to understand what is happening in your business.

Why we think this matters

Stripe Billing is a strong product. But for many service businesses, it is also cumbersome, complex and more expensive than their needs justify.

With Alunta and OnPay, you get:

  • subscription management
  • online card payments
  • flexible pricing
  • refunds and credit notes
  • a customer portal
  • accounting integrations

Without paying for unnecessary complexity.

There are still details we are polishing. We are honest about that. But the core idea is in place: subscriptions and payments that work for real businesses.

If you have been looking for a simpler, more affordable alternative to Stripe Billing, it is now worth taking a closer look at Alunta.
