Let your customers pay in installments

A new module, Installments, lets your customers pay a subscription in several installments instead of one lump sum.

How it works

Enable Installments under Apps & integrations. When the module is active you can choose the number of installments when adding a subscription to a customer - for example a yearly subscription paid in 3 installments.

You also choose how the installments are distributed:

• At the start of the period - installments are charged monthly from the beginning of the period.
• Spread across the whole period - installments are distributed evenly across the period.

Each installment has its own due date

Each installment is charged or invoiced on its own due date within the period and appears as an installment line. Due lines in the same currency can be consolidated onto one invoice for the customer, so there is not necessarily one physical document per installment. The rest of the period stays one service period, so renewal happens as usual - the customer simply pays in installments.

It works with both card and invoice. You can change the count or turn installments off on an existing subscription, but the change applies to eligible future and unlocked slices; an installment already invoiced or paid is not rewritten.

Example payment schedule

An annual subscription of DKK 1,200 with three installments gives DKK 400 per installment. With At the start of the period, the three installments are due in months 1, 2, and 3. With Spread across the whole period, they fall around months 1, 5, and 9. The exact invoice date follows the subscription’s invoicing settings. Cancellation stops future billing under the normal cancellation rules, while installments already due or paid remain. A refund or credit for an issued installment is a separate financial action and does not edit the schedule.

Trial periods in bundles

When a customer buys a bundle, each subscription in the bundle is now created as a regular subscription with its own trial, invoicing, and renewal rules.

That means a bundle containing subscriptions with trials no longer invoices those subscriptions immediately. If part of the purchase will be invoiced later, Alunta sends an order confirmation so the customer can see what was purchased before the invoice arrives.

Installments divide payment for one service period; they do not turn the installments into separate subscriptions. Each installment has its own payment record and due date, while multiple due lines in the same currency can appear on one invoice. The next renewal still follows the original subscription.
