Usage-based billing

You deliver the value. Alunta turns usage into billing.

Charge for SMS messages, API calls or another measurable part of your service. Record usage manually or send it through the API, and let Alunta apply the subscription’s pricing rules when billing. Your charges can reflect usage without another monthly spreadsheet.

Let your pricing model follow the value customers receive.

A fixed monthly price suits many services. Usage-based billing gives you another option when customers’ needs vary. Define what you measure, record the usage and let the plan’s pricing rules determine the charge for each period.

Bill a measurable part of the service you deliver.

Your usage data

Add usage manually or connect your application through the API.

Billing based on the agreement

Let the period and pricing model form the basis for billing.

From agreement to action

From an active customer to a price that keeps up.

The customer sends 180 SMS messages in a period that includes 100. In this example, the customer pays for the additional 80.

  1. Give the usage a name.

Define what you measure and how the unit is priced. This makes the model easier to explain to the customer and easier for your team to work with.

  2. Record or import usage.

Enter usage in Alunta or send it from your own system through our open API. Keep the billing data connected to the product where usage happens.

  3. Give the customer a clear invoice.

Alunta creates the invoice from recorded usage and the agreement’s pricing rules. Your team can trace the charge and explain it to the customer.

Useful questions

Before you choose your workflow.

Do I have to send usage through an API?

You can register usage manually or through the public API. Choose the approach that fits your product and how the values are generated.

What do included quantity and minimum mean?

The included quantity is the allowance deducted from recorded usage. A minimum can set the lowest number of billable units. Both follow the plan’s pricing rules; we are happy to review your model with you.
